What is Freemasons?

Masons also known as Freemasons are members of one of the oldest and largest fraternities in the world. A member can recognize his fraternity by a masonic signet ring. Freemasons usually use authentic masonic rings as a seal to validate the genuineness of the owner. These rings are typically called signet rings and as the word denotes, it means it is a sign or signature to officially stamp important documents. This was of importance in the days of old, important documents were all sealed to show who the document originated from. With the advent of the printer around the year 1439 by Gutenberg, there became very little need to place one’s ring in wax to mark their seal on a document. So, for now, masonic rings are simply a sign that the wearer is a member of the oldest fraternity on earth.

Masonic rings not only showed that one was a member of the brotherhood they also dictated one’s status and position. One look at any masonic ring would show the member’s social standing, military distinction, or even a seal to let you know just how important the owner of the ring is. These seals or signets are almost like certification of the acts done by a member of the brotherhood. In the days of old, it was proof to the community the Freemason lived in that he was who and let them know the extent of his power. As such, if someone were to steal a freemason ring, they would face the horrible punishment of death.
